The talking AI
What are your thoughts on this new development? I think it’s pretty fascinating and will be very useful for people who are always busy and on the go.
What can it do?
Before this new development, Google Assistants would just be able to dial a number for you upon request, however, this AI is capable of doing much more and can make actual appointments and reservations on your behalf. It no longer just dials the number for you, it executes the task as well.
Videos on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5VN56jQMWM) shows this AI assistant in action, where it makes salon appointments and restaurant reservations on your behalf. Listening to the AI was quite fascinating but scary at the same time. Why? Because you cannot tell whether it’s a human being or a robot talking to you! It sounds 100% human! Imagine talking to someone on the phone and not being able to tell if you’re talking to a human or a machine…
How far will they go?
How far will human beings go to make life “easier” or “convenient”? How many people will view this new technology as a “deception”? Because really and truly, it is somewhat deceiving to individuals on the other end of the call.
Will you be utilizing this technology once available to the general public or will you be questioning yourself each time you are on a call if you’re talking to a human or a robot? Something to think about.
